ANIMAL ILLUSTRATION

Our first assignment was to take three animals from different ecosystems and environments and combine them cohesively into one scene. I approached this challenge by picking three visually interesting animals. Instead of trying to insert them into a realistic setting, I chose to make the scene more humorous by putting them in a school.

The next step in the project was to create a mythical animal using aspects of the three animals and put them into a related environment, rendering them in the same style.

ARTICLE ILLUSTRATION

We were then given an article from the New York Times and told to create a grayscale piece that would complement the written work. I was assigned to the article What Would Plato Tweet?. I created a hybrid temple iPhone that combined the values and tradition of ancient Greece with the modern technology we use today.

ANIMATION

We were also tasked with producing a GIF animation. We had to do a character study as well, detailing the 360º appearance of our character and a representation of them expressing different emotions.

PENN APPÉTIT ILLUSTRATION

The final illustration of the class was for Penn Appétit, a student food magazine. We were each assigned an article, and tasked with producing an illustration that the magazine could use for the publication if they so chose. My illustration was featured in the magazine.
